  21. Get the computer *WITHOUT* the modem.  It seems to be a crappy crippled
  22. version of the USR Sportster Vi, missing many of the S registers including
  23. the ones that you would normally change to get a better connection success
  24. rate to non-USR modems.  Since the registers aren't there to change, you
  25. just can't connect to a lot of modems (in addition to other problems).
